Find Your Setup

Which licence setup matches your business?

Most fintech operators think in business models, not regulatory frameworks. The six setups below cover the patterns we deliver most often, each mapped to the licence or licence stack it requires. Real-world setups often combine authorisations: an asset manager running a crowdfunding platform may combine AIFM with ECSP, a multi-region remittance operator typically combines Canada MSB with Switzerland SRO. Our project team is available to review your business model and recommend the appropriate combination of authorisations across the jurisdictions we cover.

Crypto Exchange
Fiat + Crypto
Spot exchange handling both crypto trades and fiat on/off ramps. Switzerland and Canada offer single-licence routes covering both sides.
Crypto-Only Platform
No Fiat
Crypto-to-crypto exchange, wallet service or token issuer without fiat ramps. A single crypto authorization is sufficient. Speed varies sharply by route.
Recommended

Multi-Region
International money transfer or forex trading platform serving multiple regions. FATF alignment and speed-to-market are the deciding factors.
Payment Processor
E-Money / PSP
Card issuing, payment processing or IBAN accounts under PSD2 across the EEA. Full pan-EU passporting from a single national authorization.
Recommended
Fund Manager
Hedge / PE
Manage alternative funds (hedge, private equity, real estate, crypto) under AIFMD. Sub-threshold registration available for managers below €100M AUM.
Recommended

Client Testimonials

What our clients say about working with us

Fintech founders, compliance teams and corporate counsel from across our coverage area share their experience working with our project team. The selection below covers our three most common engagement types: a Switzerland SRO route for a crypto exchange, a Canada MSB fast-go-live for a US-facing payments platform, and an EU MiCA CASP authorization across multiple Baltic jurisdictions. Names have been initialized at client request and full reference contacts are available on a confidential basis under NDA.

The team mapped our crypto-exchange model to a Switzerland SRO route in the first call and delivered VQF membership in under four months. Communication was direct and the fixed-fee structure removed any budget surprises.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions on fintech licensing

The questions below cover the most common decision points for international fintech operators choosing among licensing routes across our coverage area. Topics include licence selection, multi-jurisdiction strategies, timelines, costs, EU passporting, ongoing compliance, ready-made entities and operational setup. For licence-specific detail beyond what is covered here, each dedicated jurisdiction page goes deeper into regulatory framework, documentation, capital, substance and package structure. Cannot find your question? Reach out via the contact form and our team will respond directly.

Which fintech licence do I actually need?

It depends on what your business does. Crypto-asset services point to MiCA CASP, Switzerland SRO or Canada MSB. Fiat payment accounts and e-money issuance need EMI or PI. Investment fund management needs AIFM. Crowdfunding platforms need ECSP. International remittance fits MSB licences. Our project team can review your business model and recommend the right licence category.

Can you cover multi-jurisdiction strategies?

Yes. We frequently combine licences across our coverage area. Common stacks include Canada MSB plus Switzerland SRO for crypto operators, MiCA CASP plus EMI for crypto-fiat platforms, and AIFM plus ECSP for asset managers running crowdfunding alongside funds. Multi-jurisdiction projects are scoped and quoted as a single engagement.

How fast can I go live?

Speed varies by licence and jurisdiction. Canada MSB ready-made entities can go live in 2 weeks. Switzerland SRO membership runs from 3 months. EU MiCA CASP, EMI and AIFM authorizations typically take 6 to 10 months. Contact us for a timeline tailored to your scope.

What is the lowest-cost entry point?

Canada MSB has no minimum regulatory capital and starts at €20,000 in setup. Switzerland uses CHF 20,000 GmbH share capital with packages from €20,000. For EU passporting at the lowest cost, Baltic AIFM sub-threshold registration starts from €50,000 with €15,000 in regulatory capital.

Which licences provide EU passporting?

MiCA CASP (crypto), EMI (e-money), PI (payment services), AIFM (alternative funds) and ECSP (crowdfunding) all carry passporting rights across all 30+ EU/EEA member states from a single national authorization. Non-EU licences such as Canada MSB or Switzerland SRO do not include EU passporting.

Do you handle ongoing compliance after go-live?

Yes. Our compliance team provides AML/CFT framework maintenance, MLRO and Compliance Officer outsourcing, regulatory reporting and DORA-aligned ICT compliance. Standalone compliance services are available for clients with existing licences. Learn more about our compliance services.

Can a non-EU founder obtain an EU licence?

Yes. The licensed entity must be incorporated in an EU member state, but the ultimate beneficial owners can be based anywhere subject to fit and proper assessment. We handle the full incorporation, structuring and substance setup process across all our covered EU jurisdictions.

Do you offer ready-made licensed entities?

Yes, where pre-licensed entities are tradeable. Canada MSB ready-made entities are the most common, supporting 2-week go-live. EU and Swiss licences typically require fresh applications, but we can incorporate the legal entity in advance to reduce overall timeline.

What about banking, IT and operational setup?

Banking introductions are part of our standard delivery for licensed entities, working with regulator-friendly partners across our jurisdictions. ICT infrastructure, DORA-aligned setup, MLRO and Compliance Officer outsourcing are included in our Custom packages or available as standalone services.

What if I need more than one licence?

Frequent in fintech. A crypto exchange with fiat ramps may need MiCA CASP plus EMI. A multi-region remittance operator may combine Canada MSB plus Switzerland SRO. An asset manager may need AIFM plus ECSP. We map the licence stack as part of the initial assessment and deliver under one project plan.

What countries do you cover?

EU jurisdictions for MiCA, EMI, PI, AIFM and ECSP: Malta, Cyprus, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Czech Republic, Austria and Poland. Switzerland (Zug) for SRO and FINMA-licensed activities. Canada (Toronto) for MSB. USA (Montana) for state MSB. Plus a growing iGaming network and corporate services across 12+ jurisdictions.
